One bottle of stout

I'm singing the blues because I choose
to sing the blues
could have paid the light bill
but I went to the bar instead
could have paid the light bell
now I feel like
somebody kicked me in the head
the lights are going to go out
and I only have this one bottle of stout
who can I turn to
the electric company is screwing me
how dare they want this money from me
I'm singing the blues because I choose
to sing the blues
It's all about choices
My neighbor stayed home
they'll have electricy
maybe I can run a wire
from their space to mine
I wonder if I should ask them
or just do it
I'm singing the blues
I'm singing the blues
only got this one bottle of stout
to see me through.

Put me in your layaway box

You put me in your layaway box, baby,
and then you forgot about me.
You said, when we met, that our love
would always grow,
and then you put me in your layaway box,
and you forgot about me.
I thought that no price could be put upon
our love,
but you put me in your layaway box,
and then you just walked away.
I love the way you hold me, baby,
but you ain't held me in awhile.
I love the way you kiss me baby,
but I ain't even seen your smile,
since you put me in this lay away box,
and you walked away, and forgot about me, baby.

This thing called Happiness

Ever since you been gone
I been getting it on with this thing called Happiness.
Ever since you been gone,
I've had a smile on my face.
Ever since you been gone,
I have felt comfortable in this place called my space.
I thought that I could never live without you,
now I'm happy as hell that you are gone.
You took everything with you,
but that was a small price to pay
to have my days, once again, go away.
Don't come back.
Don't come back.
Even the dogs are glad that you are gone.
Don't come back.
Don't come back,
the cats are no longer hiding under the bed.

I'm smoking and I'm drinking

Well I'm smoking and I'm drinking
when I'm supposed to be at an AA meeting.
Yeah, I'm smoking, and I'm drinking
when I'm supposed to be at an AA meeting
I told my girlfriend that I quit smoking,
Lordy did it make her smile
but soon as she went to work
I went to the store and got me a pack.
I'm smoking, and I'm drinking
yeah I'm smoking and I'm drinking
Judge told me that I had to go to AA meetings
Judge told me to go to AA meetings
or go to jail.
I love my baby, and I hate sitting inside the jail.
Yeah, I love my baby, I love my baby,
and I hate going to jail.
Devil must be inside me.
Devil must be inside me,
sometimes I go to church, but I don't learn a thing.
I'm supposed to be at an AA meeting
but I'm drinking
My girl don't want me smoking
but I'm puffing away.
It don't make no sense to me,
but I'm doing it anyway.
The refrigerator is empty

Get on your knees, son/The refrigerator is empty.
Get on your knees son/we used to have plenty.
Get on your knees son/the refrigerator is empty.
Cotton been picked by a machine this time.
Cotton been picked by a machine this time.
I'm going to have to leave this land
that I have always called mine.
Get on your knees son/refrigerator is empty
Get on your knees son/we used to have plenty
I don't know how I'm going to pay my debt
to the plantation store.

We used to have plenty/now the refrigerator is empty.
Get on your knees son/cotton been picked by a machine this time.

Satisfied
(Mikel K Musik)

Well, sometimes, it tastes bitter,
but she keeps me satisfied.
I could probably look around,
and find better,
but she keeps me satisfied.
I might be settling for less,
but she keeps me satisfied.

If you got what you need,
why look for more?
When you already bought your groceries,
why go back to the store?
When you packing a pistol,
is there any need to carry a knife?

I got a letter from the dating service,
saying that they got a girl for me.
How can that be, I already got a girl
that keeps me satisfied.

I'm satisfied.
I'm satisfied.
She cooks me dinner at leat once a week,
and when she's getting ready for bed,
she sometimes gives me a peek.

If you got what you need,
why look for more?
When you already bought your groceries,
why go back to the store?
When you packing a pistol,
is there any need to carry a knife?

Yeah, I'm satisfied.
I'm satisfied,
that woman used to drive me out of my mind,
but we're both getting old,
hell, I'm almost blind,

but I'm satisfied,
yes, I'm satisfied.
I surely am satisfied.
If you got what you need,
why look for more?
When you already bought your groceries,
why go back to the store?
When you packing a pistol,
is there any need to carry a knife?

(I see this as a blues song, fo sure.)

I like people who tell the truth

I like it when songs are real, and singers tell the truth.
I like it when a man says if you give him your vote,
that he will look out for your interests, and he means it.
I like it when my waitress smiles at me,
and makes me feel like she is glad to see me.

I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.

I like it when my mechanic doesn't
try to screw me over when fixing my car.
I like it when the deejay shuts up
on the radio, and mostly plays songs.
I like it when someone believes in God,
and they are not putting a collection plate in front of my face.
I love a love story with a happy ending,
especially when it's between you and me.

I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.

I like it when my children come to see me,
and it's not a recognized holiday.
I like it when my dog wants to bark,
but he shuts up because I tell him to.
I like it when the mailman brings mail,
that is not going to cost me anything.
I like it when the van brings the man
selling ice cream. Ring a ding ding.

I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.

I like it when people talk about Revolution,
and they don't mean one that will be bloody.
I like it when politicians do things for the people,
though I know it's not their golden rule.
I like it when the guy or gal at the grocery store
smiles at me like I am somebody.

I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters, and
I like people who tell the truth.

I like it when I hold the door for you,
and I like it when you hold the door for me.
I like it when I hold my hand off the horn,
when I feel like laying on it because of you.
I like the idea of love, and I haven't quit wishing
that it will come true for you and me.
I like ice cream sundaes, made the old fashioned way,
like they were, when I was a kid.

I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like people who tell the truth.
I like straight shooters.
I like straight shooters.
I like people who tell the truth.

I like the way I feel right now,
writing this song down, and
I'm going to like the way that I feel
when you are listening to it.

I like straight shooters,
and I like people who tell the truth.
